    Hi Ben and Jen

    Thanks for your amazing Bob, full of useful information.

    My friend and I are planning a similar trip next year, ams I was wondering if you could shed any light on what you did in regard to vehicle importation documentation. Did you have a Carnet du passage? How much did it cost to drive through the countries you list, any in particular that you had issues with.

    Any advice you can offer would be gratefully received…

      Glad you’ve found the blog useful, we enjoyed sending out the updates. Yes we got a Carnet (via the RAC in the UK). This meant taking the vehicle in and out of the various countries was relatively easy. A security deposit is payable to the RAC before the carnet can be issued and this varies by country, for the whole of the trip this would have been 250%, however Egypt bumps this up to 800%!! Fortunately our vehicle had been on a carnet before with a relatively low value and we then went down the insurance scheme the RAC offer which means you have to find a lot less cash.
